Got up this morning and decided that since I had a few hours before my flight went out that I would head to work. However, I was not willing to sacrifice my ability to wear jeans, so I tried to hide from most people. This also helped me to avoid having the "Yes I am not supposed to be here. I stayed for a funeral....thanks for the sympathy" talks.
However, first I headed to feed my Starbucks addiction. Driving back down Vine street with my coffee in hand, I passed a cop on a corner...doing 42 in a 35 mph zone. He pulled me over and asked for my license and registration. Uh oh. I have no idea where it is in a rental car. Also, I have no proof of insurance. My credit card covers it, but I have no proof if I were to be in an accident. Anyway, I hand him my license and stammer out an apology for not having the registration handy. After shuffling papers, explaining that it is a rental and informing him that I am indeed from Florida and in town for business, he says he will take care of it. Oh, and by the way, was I aware that the speed limit is 35? ("No! I'm so sorry officer....")
He comes back up with a warning and a little "be careful" speech about knowing my insurance and registration just in case an accident occurs. Otherwise, it's go directly to court. Do not pass go, do not collect $220.
Flew out of Omaha to Tampa via St. Louis. There I picked up a prepackaged salad at a stand. I returned to my gate and as I sat down to eat it I realized that they had packets of croutons in the box, but the dressing was separate at the counter. So, I headed back to the counter and picked up a dressing packet. I went to go back to my seat, but someone was sitting there, so I headed to a nearby gate. As I passed the stand again, the lady that took my money said "So, are you going to pay for that salad?"
"I did"
"No you didn't. You walked up to the counter, picked up the salad and walked off. I saw you."
"I paid $10.06 for this salad and tea. I gave you a $20 and counted out 6 cents. I went back for a packet of dressing. It was less than two minutes ago."
"Yeah, sure. Whatever."
Nice. Very nice. I was on the phone, so I quickly ended the call and headed back to the stand to explain and clarify the issue. The lady continued to be rude until she resorted to blatantly ignoring me. Needless to say, I filled out a comment card and still plan on looking up the company on the internet to make sure that my irritation is heard loud and clear. REALLY!?!? Accusing me of stealing less than 2 minutes after you took my money yourself. The people in the sitting area were goggling, though I think half were thinking "She was just here and paid?!?", while the second half probably thought I did steal the nasty salad. The lady didn't even offer me a receipt, so I had no proof. Anyway. That's my story. My neighbor says that it has been 80 degrees here all week, and tomorrow it is projected to be 82! It's good to be home!

Geez sis. Can't you do anything right? Just kidding. Don't let the man, or the woman in the salad case get to you. They can just see that you are successful and are flat out jealous, after all who gets jewelry from their employers. You do!
if you were going to steal food, I would hope you would aim a little higher than salad.
I agree with Evelyn. You should have taken a lot more than a salad. Make it worth the jail time if you get caught. Truth be told, once you plead your case, the woman was probably embarrassed when she realized you were right and rather than apologizing, she ignored you. People make me mad..... a lot.
I am glad you are enjoying the sun and warm weather. We are to get nasty weather all weekend. I am actually looking forward to it. Hot coffee (or tea) and a blanket and crappy movies on TBS. Sounds like the perfect weekend. I'm serious. You know how it works around here!!! It's wonderful..... sometimes.
