Complaint Day

Yesterday I filed all of my complaints. Headed to the office about my bedspring neighbors. They said they can't do much about it. However, then she let me know that they are moving out at the end of the month! Yeah!

Off to brighthouse (phone provider). I tell my story, the lady apologizes and I get one month free phone service.

I also took the time to drop off a few chain letters at the post office. In thelst month I have received two of the same chain letter. "As seen on Oprah, send $1 to the top of the list and put your name at the bottom...you'll be rich!"
Yeah, right. I didn't send them in high school, I won't send them now. I also had no idea who sent them. So, I gave them to the postal investigator.

All in a days work.

Bad Service Weekend (long)

I posted this first on my Myspace blog, here's how it started on Thursday:
Today I stopped at Walmart and went to get a sandwich at the Blimpie inside (oh, so health conscious I guess since there was no McD's). A girl came out of the back on her cel phone and asked to take my order while still on the phone. I said I needed a sec and almost added "I'll wait for you to get off the phone.", but instead got curious to see what she'd do. She stood back until I was ready and the proceeded to make my sandwich while still on the phone. No-freaking-way. Well, at least she switched to Spanish so I wouldn't be bothered by her riduculous banter most likely about how some chick was trying to steal her man. She set the phone down to wrap the sandwich, rang me up, gave me the total, PICKED UP THE PHONE, AND CONTINUED HER CONVERSATION BEFORE I EVEN RAN MY CARD. Needless to say, I was a little miffed (and shocked by this point).
I headed over to customer service, but they informed me that she is not an employee of Walmart. So, I came back to the apartment and sent of a little how-do-you-do note to the Blimpie customer service site. I'd better get a free sandwich out of this or something.
Oh, and note to self, if you are going to provide a customer with bottom of the barrel service, don't wear a gold chain with your name on it. Seriously...

Friday I headed for coffee at the little place in front of E's apartment. I asked for a large and she started to fill it. Pretty soon, she was tilting the reservoir trying to fill the cup. When she headed for the grounds, I told her I'd take what she already had. This is what I got:
Photobucket
That is how full it ended up being, and she charged me for the whole dang cup.

Just to make that day worse, I called to get my messages from my home phone. "We're sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily out of service." What the heck.
So I called brighthouse. They said last september I got a second line and they had disconnected one. Uhhh...buddy, you disconnected the wrong one. Oh, they say it will be fixed in two hours.
Two hours later, another phone call, promise to fix in two hours, tomorrow morning at the latest.
The next morning, still no service, I called back. Promise of service in a few hours.
The next afternoon, I call, promise of service in an hour.
That evening, I call. I ask for a manager, the guy says he can help me better if I tell the problem first. I tell him the whole story. It takes three minutes and I am so worked up by this point in time that I finish with (I apologize mommy) and I am just really F_ing tired of this....
The service guy says "Ma'am, I need you to watch your language."
Service guy say WHAT?!
"Excuse me?" He continues on with "if you'll just listen to me..."
I say, "I'd like to speak to a manager now..."
"If you'll just listen ma'am, I can help you"
"No, I want to talk to a manager"
He continues to talk over me and tell me to listen until I repeat myself three times ending up screaming the phrase "EXCUSE ME!"
"I would like to be connected to your manager now"
He connects me and I'm feeling a little bad about dropping the f bomb, but dangit, I'm so tired of this all. I start again with his manager....But he is snarky with me. I HATE snarky.
I tell HIM the whole story and tell him that I am very frustrated with the fact that they keep telling me I will have service soon. "Well, I don't know much about technology, but I'd guess that it takes some time." "Then why do they promise me it will work in an hour?" "I don't know"
"Well, then can you connect me with someone who does?" "Yes, ma'am I can."
He comes back on the line and says he is passing me on to a tech member. I say thank you he sarcasticly throws out "you're welcome." Oh. no. he. did. Not!
Once again, I calm myself, go through the story and good old Wesley has the problem fixed in 15 minutes while I am waiting on my celphone.

Brighthouse will have an angry girl in their office tomorrow with three associate names (two associate ID's too) and a demand for some free freaking service. (And I will be very nice about it. I just want a little bit of niceness from someone and an apology for the snarkyness.)

Christmas card

To the family:

I got a Christmas card from Martina! I know that I forgot to tell you all, but I did not receive it until I arrived back home in January. She got my address from the mass email that I sent out.

It reads:

Hi Stacey,
You were asking for Christmas Cards in your email. Here is one.
"Frohe Weichnachten und viel Glück im Neuen Jahr."
I wish you and youf family a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Why is it that you live in Florida now?
Best wishes,
Martina

I also received a postcard inside the card reading:
And here is also a postcard from Amsterdam. I went there last week just for a day. It's a beautiful dity with all the canals. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't good. How have you been doing? What are you doing in Florida? Are you planning to come to Europe someday? I would love to show you Berlin, the coolest city on Earth. I hope to hear from you again. You got my email address.
Take Care,
Martina

(If one of you wants her email address or her mailing address, I will send it to you in an email.)

I thought it was nice to hear from her. Mom, perhaps you can take a nice picture of Ozzie so I can send it to her. She loves him so much.

gotta love them

So far, the trip has gone well with E. I ended up just barely beating her to her apartment because I was trying to get together my work for the rest of the week and then ran into crazy Mary. (Really, how many times do I have to hear her call her ex a f__er as she tells me that she is working for Jesus?) This week she added to her story that she thinks one of the management ladies in the office is working with those who are evil in their hearts to sabotage her apartment.

Anyway, last night E and I held each other in the dark as we cried...

and lit candles...

for Heath Ledger....

No, actually, she is doing as well as can be expected. Understandably, she wasn't so excited about going to work at the happiest place on earth (who would?!?!) Tonight when she gets off of work we are heading out to Disney or somewhere else where we can break in her new sweet camera! Also, since she is a non-food-loving-sad person we have to try and find something to tempt her palate...(Shelby, drink the juice.)

To sum up my stay so far, I have this list.
WHY IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO STAY OVER WITH GIRLS:
1. If you forget soap or bodywash, you don't end up using your shampoo.
2. Their apartments don't smell like feet or day old beer.
3. When you are done washing your face, you can use a hand towel to dry rather than toilet paper.
4. If you forget an extra shirt, the one you borrow doesn't say "I'm with stupid" or "Rock out with your cock out"
and my fave..
5. When you run out of toilet paper, there is always a stash within arms reach.

Have a good hump day everyone!

(Seriously, Heath is dead!?!? Kinda crazy!)

It's almost here

So, any of you ladies have any recommendations for Anti-Valentine's Day movies? They can either be in the theater or rentable. I'm looking for those ones that even though they have a happy ending, it is not due to the movie style kiss between the main character and his reformed shady girlfriend. I want action, drama, and minimal-to-no underlying love story. Pride and Prejudice? Nope. Superman Returns? Definitely not. Boondock Saints or My Cousin Vinny...now we're talking.

Just wanted to few ideas from you all.

I'm off to Orlando tonight, so if you want to talk to me before I drop of the face of the earth for a few days (I'm getting quality E time), then call me today. (That means you mom!)

Waiting pays off

Loafing and procrastinating. If it were an olympic sport, I'd win hands down. Today I was going to get a bunch of stuff done today, but instead I slept until noon (had a sleepless night) and then talked on the phone until about 4. Then, I watched Batman Begins on Tv while cooking dinner (and eating, and digesting it).

So, what did I accomplish? I ran a few errands, got some nice new undies at VS (did you know that on the last day of their SA sale they discount every pair of undies to 2.99 and every bra to 14.99? Though it was picked over, I got a few new additions to my stock.), and I did two loads of laundry. Ah, a day successfully wasted.

Oh, and just so you can get a little chuckle at my expense: part of my sleepless night was the disturbing discovery that my upstairs neighbors have a headboard on their bed. Lucky me the guy has about as much stamina as a ____ (oh, I just can't fill it in knowing that mom will read it), so it only lasted for a minute and a half or so. I've tried knocking on their door when they play their music too loud and drop bowling balls on the floor, but the never answer. So, I just figured the next time I'd buy a pair of endurance condoms and leave them at the door with a note saying "I hope your minute and a half adventure was better for you than it was for me. ~An insomniac neighbor"

Open to the public

Okay,

I got tired of logging in to blog. I'm back up and running for the general public (but search engines still can't find me)

Hung out with my neighbors last night. Doug and Shelley are very cool people. Drank my weight in beer (okay, not really, but it FELT like I did.) I just get that disgusting feeling after about three drinks. Why does beer do that, but not coke? Perhaps I could finally kick my coke-(acola) habit.

So today a guy knocks on my door. The he starts into a schpiel about the local paper. They've been running out of Sunday papers and so they want to provide all of the residents with a free copy. Cool! Then he says that we need to pay the delivery fee = 50 cents a week. Well.... Then he says that the apartment manager won't let him do this if the residents don't pick up their papers..... (Now I'm getting the point.) So, they will offer me the Thursday, Friday, Sat and Sun papers for 50 cents a week. But I have to pay for the whole trial period now for $13.
I feel like I'm part of a scam now. I can pay with a check, card or cash. I tell him, sorry, I don't hand out checks or card numbers to people AND I have no cash. Can I drop it by the office? No, cuz then he doesn't get his sale.
"Do you know your neighbors, cuz they all gave me checks."
"No, I don't know anyone here."
"Do I look like the kind of person that would rip you off?" (doesn't every con man say that?)
"Sorry, I have a few friends who experienced Identity theft, it's just a policy I have. Can you come back later for some cash?"
"Yeah, I'll call you."

Well, now I'm just irritated, so he probably won't be getting the dang money. Seriously. Plus, when I'm gone, papers are gonna be piling up, unless I ask Crazy Mary to pick them up for me. (But that would require talking to her.)

Am I mean? I just don't like handing out money to people that show up at my door.

random

--I don't think I'm ready to go back to school. Basically, this is because I have become a clothes snob. You should see what people wear to school! See through white tank tops with floral print bras, see through pajama pants, britney spear skirts and ugg boots with heavy sweaters... Ugh! I don't think I will make it out without developing a new complex.

--While in the library, there was a guy carrying around a gallon milk jug full of water. He was just walking around taking swigs from it like a water bottle...weird.

--Today while working at Panera, a guy stopped to tell me how cute my hair was. (I left it curly again.) Then, he stopped again on the way out. He looked to be about 55, and he said, "You look so cute with that hair, it kinda makes me wish I was 20 years younger!" (In a sweet, rather than creepy old man kind of way.) It really made my day!

--Had a crazy dream about a co-worker last night. Brad (no, not Brandon) and a group of others from work went to a zoo/theme park down here. While swimming from platform to platform (I know, weird), Brad got attacked by a gator. I saved him, but he had a few bites. This included one on his arm where the gator managed to rip off his watch. As he went into shock he asked someone to go get it for him...... I trust intuition, so I called him at work just to make sure he was doing okay (and told him to take off his watch before swimming...)

--X is coming to visit. He will be here for a few days in two weeks. I know, I know. (PLEASE, NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY ON THIS ONE!!)

Gobbledegook

A plethera of updates for you:

This weekend is Gasparilla, a pirate festival that extends over two weekends. They have a pirate ship out in the bay, a parade, and street party. YEARGH!! I hope to make a few events, but it doesn't seem like something that I really want to do by myself.

Yesterday some coworkers were here working with Clinique. They invited me along and I met many of the leading ladies here in Florida. Not only that, but one of the leaders is sending me a free product basket! Yeah! She is sending me a bunch of face care products and a few cosmetics.
Had a sinus infection and somehow managed to convince the ENT that did my surgery to call in an Rx rather than going to a clinic for $100.

Got my graduate school apps in. I tried to get things done ahead of time, but I can't seem to writie anything inspirational unless it is last minute. Also, when I went to get my last recommendation letter, I got a wonderful note from the CEO that wrote it. He is the guy that everyone warned me about when we first started to work together. They said he was hard to please and very demanding (you know the type), but in his email to me, he said "I would say good luck... but it's hard to imagine you would need any luck at all. If they don't accept you, who on earth would they accept?" What a great guy!
I also learned that there are no follow up interviews. Everything that I handed in is what they use to make their decision. good thing I handed in the optional Curriculum vitae and writing sample. Hopefully the are more impressed with the fact that my APA research paper was 22 pages and are not distracted by the fact that I have not produced any research papers since my undergraduate degree. Oh well, I hope that it works. Keep me in your thoughts.

final weekend

Then I am back online for sure. Grad school apps are due on TUESDAY. I have everything but my personal statement and one recommendation letter done. Steve says the letter will be ready to pick up at noon on Tuesday (cutting it close because he is in Puerto Rico), but I should have a back up arriving on Monday.) I am at starbucks getting ready to write my letter. Anyway, things are looking up, but I am worried. I think that my GRE scores and online app was sent to the general grad office rather than the psych office. That should be easy to fix. I'm gonna look into it on Monday.

Had a great time with Ev. Went to Disney, at with E for her birthday and hit the beach for a day. Hope that everything is going well for you all. Catch up with you later.

Dinner with Kristi, Erin, Me and Ev.

Back in FL

Made it home safe and sound today. It was a crazy weekend. Hanging out with friends while nursing a headcold was really a tough ordeal. Little sleep was counteracted by the fantastic hot tub time at Emb. Suites. I really enjoyed staying there a lot more than I did at the cornhusker. Oh well.

The weekend ended with my holiday party. Katie was my date and to carry on my streak, I won a prize. A one hundred dollar gift cert to Edmonds. (A male clothing store.....) Hey, at least I won something. I wore the hot dress and stayed out too late (the last prize was drawn at 10:30, and I was dragging by 9)

Got lots of twin comments and hope that Katie had a good time too.

I just got home and Ev picked me up from the airport. (She came down early to crash at my place while attending an academic conference.) Tomorrow is E's b-day, so we are heading to Orlando for some girl time. It should be fun, and hopefully I can get my reference letter done tomorrow so it will not be weighing on my mind!! Go me!

2008

Okay, so everyone is posting about New Year's and such. My resolution is to get out my grad school apps in the next week or so! They need to be in by the 15th, but I am still feeling that I am behind! In reality, I am WAY ahead of the first time that I sent out applications. I decided to go to graduate school about a month and a half before apps were due, so it was a mad rush! I have one letter in the mail, one that I am going to write this week and have signed, and one that I am trying to get ahold of (but Cal usually comes through in a pinch and saves the day).

So ladies, not that I am a pagan of perfection, but I have succeeded in a few of my own health goals in the last few months. What did I learn? Well, here's a few tips for you.

START SMALL. OM, you learned this early on, but as we get older, we can't begin our workouts with two a days like we used to. Our bodies don't respond and if you push too far too fast, you end up taking the next week off to recover. So, If you are wearing out after fifteen minutes of walking. Stop there and pick up the next day. Go sixteen minutes the next day. It's okay to start with a workout that you used to scoff at when you were 18 years old. In this case, the ends DO justify the means!

Drink that water! The more you workout, the more you will crave it. So, don't waterlog yourself trying to meet a goal. Every once in awhile, get a glass of water instead of that diet soda or cup of coffee.

Use your gym AS the excuse rather than creating an excuse to not go to the gym. If I don't feel like driving to my gym, I make myself workout at home. Sure, I paid for the gym membership, but in reality, isn't it better to do things outside? Also, by changing things up, it will be harder to be bored. I like to think that I paid for my gym for those rainy days when I have NO SUNSHINE! It's okay to not use it as long as you are doing something!

Go ladies!

I am also going to try and keep up with the running and such. My goal is to drop a jean size before my birthday. We'll see!

(I know this may not apply to everyone, but a few of you blogged about their resolutions.)
