Open to the public

Okay,

I got tired of logging in to blog. I'm back up and running for the general public (but search engines still can't find me)

Hung out with my neighbors last night. Doug and Shelley are very cool people. Drank my weight in beer (okay, not really, but it FELT like I did.) I just get that disgusting feeling after about three drinks. Why does beer do that, but not coke? Perhaps I could finally kick my coke-(acola) habit.

So today a guy knocks on my door. The he starts into a schpiel about the local paper. They've been running out of Sunday papers and so they want to provide all of the residents with a free copy. Cool! Then he says that we need to pay the delivery fee = 50 cents a week. Well.... Then he says that the apartment manager won't let him do this if the residents don't pick up their papers..... (Now I'm getting the point.) So, they will offer me the Thursday, Friday, Sat and Sun papers for 50 cents a week. But I have to pay for the whole trial period now for $13.
I feel like I'm part of a scam now. I can pay with a check, card or cash. I tell him, sorry, I don't hand out checks or card numbers to people AND I have no cash. Can I drop it by the office? No, cuz then he doesn't get his sale.
"Do you know your neighbors, cuz they all gave me checks."
"No, I don't know anyone here."
"Do I look like the kind of person that would rip you off?" (doesn't every con man say that?)
"Sorry, I have a few friends who experienced Identity theft, it's just a policy I have. Can you come back later for some cash?"
"Yeah, I'll call you."

Well, now I'm just irritated, so he probably won't be getting the dang money. Seriously. Plus, when I'm gone, papers are gonna be piling up, unless I ask Crazy Mary to pick them up for me. (But that would require talking to her.)

Am I mean? I just don't like handing out money to people that show up at my door.

Don't let guilt or manners ever make you do something uncomfortable. Perhaps you shouldn't even be opening the door to strange men. Seriously.

Do you have a peek hole?

Whee! Your posts now show up in my Google Reader! No more missing several posts at a time!!! I'm glad you're back in the "public". Hopefully whomever you were dodging have now totally forgotten all about the blog.

Oh Stacey. You are smarter than this!!! DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR TO PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW!!!!!

Ok.... off my soap box. No, you are not out of line for not trusting him, and I wouldn't answer if he 'calls' you. Forget it. You can go to the gas station on a run and get a paper. It's safer.
