Okay, so everyone is posting about New Year's and such. My resolution is to get out my grad school apps in the next week or so! They need to be in by the 15th, but I am still feeling that I am behind! In reality, I am WAY ahead of the first time that I sent out applications. I decided to go to graduate school about a month and a half before apps were due, so it was a mad rush! I have one letter in the mail, one that I am going to write this week and have signed, and one that I am trying to get ahold of (but Cal usually comes through in a pinch and saves the day).
So ladies, not that I am a pagan of perfection, but I have succeeded in a few of my own health goals in the last few months. What did I learn? Well, here's a few tips for you.
START SMALL. OM, you learned this early on, but as we get older, we can't begin our workouts with two a days like we used to. Our bodies don't respond and if you push too far too fast, you end up taking the next week off to recover. So, If you are wearing out after fifteen minutes of walking. Stop there and pick up the next day. Go sixteen minutes the next day. It's okay to start with a workout that you used to scoff at when you were 18 years old. In this case, the ends DO justify the means!
Drink that water! The more you workout, the more you will crave it. So, don't waterlog yourself trying to meet a goal. Every once in awhile, get a glass of water instead of that diet soda or cup of coffee.
Use your gym AS the excuse rather than creating an excuse to not go to the gym. If I don't feel like driving to my gym, I make myself workout at home. Sure, I paid for the gym membership, but in reality, isn't it better to do things outside? Also, by changing things up, it will be harder to be bored. I like to think that I paid for my gym for those rainy days when I have NO SUNSHINE! It's okay to not use it as long as you are doing something!
Go ladies!
I am also going to try and keep up with the running and such. My goal is to drop a jean size before my birthday. We'll see!
(I know this may not apply to everyone, but a few of you blogged about their resolutions.)

I am working on digging out that stupid treadmill. When I went through things in the basement, trash bags of clothes to give to this person or that person were piled on the treadmill. Why the treadmill, I don't know. Because I don't think.... that's pry why.
Glad things are in order for your schooling!! Keep on track!!
Hm-m-m Dr. Dangler. That sounds great. Go for the gold.
Good luck with your grad school aps! Brag yourself up!
Yes - I had the whole popping-hip-falling-on-the-floor thing going on last time I went on a work out kick. This time I'm starting really slow. I've spent the last week just THINKING about exercising! :-)
