A lady I work with just came around collecting money for a fundraiser her son is participating in. It's called a fun run and it makes exercise fun as the kids run around the gym. Every few laps they change it up as they run while beating a drum, skip, run like monkeys, etc.
So, when she came to my desk I handed her a $20 bill. "Are you sure?"
umm...it's for your son's fun run, and it's just $20.
However, I did forget to ask what the money is going towards. (I didn't really care if it was St. Jude's or a pizza party.) Guess where it goes.
To get a school nurse. You have got to be joking?!?! People here voted against raising property taxes and now the are making drastic teacher cuts and can't have a full time nurse. Now, I know I did not have one either, but one class in the schools down here is the size of my whole high school. This is crazy! It amazes me how people don't think about these bills when they pass them. They are even making cuts in the fire and police departments.
It just goes to show, only stupid people vote on the important things.

Get involved in the election my dear! You can do it! I personally think that it would be cool to be able to get involved in local politics so I'm starting at a high level, and will work down . . .

Well, at least your donation would buy a 1/2 hour of her time.
